Migraine treatment helps to stop symptoms and prevent future attacks.

Mainly two types of medications used for migraine.

  • Pain-relieving medications (Pain killers): Help in immediately relief of pain symptoms.Take safe prescribed pain-relieving drugs as soon as you experience signs or symptoms of a migraine for the best results. It may help if you rest or sleep in a dark room after taking them.
  • Preventive medications:  These types of drugs are taken regularly, often on a daily basis, to reduce the severity or frequency of migraines.

Your treatment plan depends on the frequency and severity of your headaches.

Few medications aren’t recommended if you’re pregnant or breast-feeding and some aren’t prescribed to children. Doctor can help find the right medication for you.

Anti-nausea medications: If you feel for nausea or vomiting doctor will give you symptomatic medicines.

Preventive medications

You may try this as a part of preventive therapy: Use these preventive measures under supervision of your doctor.

Your doctor may recommend preventive medications for woman facing migraine at menstruation phase to control migraine attack.

If you have had good results from preventive medicine and your migraines are well-controlled, your doctor may recommend tapering off the medication to see if your migraines return without it.

Alternative Therapy:

Nontraditional therapies may be helpful if you have chronic migraine pain.

  • Massage therapy: Head Massage or massage therapy may help to reduce the frequency of migraines.
  • Meditation and Yoga:
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy: Psychotherapy or Cognitive behavioral therapy may benefit some people with migraines. These teach you how behaviors and thoughts affect how you pain.
  • Herbs, vitamins and minerals: There is some evidence that the herbs may prevent migraines.
